apple About Community Literacy of Ontario

Community Literacy of Ontario (CLO) is a provincial network of community-based literacy agencies in the province of Ontario. CLO provides training, support, resources and information to our member agencies all across Ontario. Our mission statement is as follows: “Community Literacy of Ontario exists to support, promote and provide a united voice for community-based literacy programs in Ontario.”

In 2006 CLO had a membership of 131 agencies, networks, organizations and individuals from across Ontario. This membership consists of 93 organizational members, 29 associate members and 9 individual members.

Our office is located in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. CLO was created in 1994 and incorporated in 1997. CLO receives funding from the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the National Literacy Secretariat, (HRSDC), and member programs. CLO’s Members

CLO has a formal, paid membership consisting of literacy agencies, literacy networks and organizations, and individuals. Our members are located in communities large and small throughout this province. Our members are our greatest strength!

In 2007, our formal, paid membership consists of:

  • 91 organizational members (Anglophone community-based literacy delivery agencies in Ontario);
  • 28 associate members; and
  • 9 individual members.
